PETS

Pets are an invaluable asset to your survival team. Here's a short list as to how pets can increase your team's survivability and improve the overall quality of life for your entire household.

1. DOGS:

Canines of any kind can be used for an array of tasks that offer your home a tremendous advantage. These tasks can include security detail, fire rescue, small game retrieval, home and perimeter surveillance, carrying supplies on land and in water, provide medical alert, boost group morale and confidence, and be an overall protector against predators of any kind.

Various breeds of dog do have advantages over others. Some are more aggressive while other breeds offer greater stealth and maneuverability.

Some survivalist teams (particularly marauders) are convinced that interbreeding a dog with a wild canine (coyote, fox, wolf, or jackal) can bring a greater advantage over other survivalist households.

Interbreeding a domestic dog with a wolf or coyote is an option that does offer greater size and attack as an advantage; however, various drawbacks must be considered, especially if young children are present and training becomes an insurmountable challenge.

2. CATS:

Most felines have the type of curiosity that can be exploited for the team's advantage. Cats can be equipped with surveillance cameras, be trained to send and retrieve valuable items, offer pest control that limits the number of rodents and vermin from infiltrating your food supplies, machinery, storage places and food gardens as well as offer a morale boost and comfort to younger members of your household.

An additional benefit from having a cat as a member of your survivalist household is medicinal. Most veterinarians admit that the purring sound of a cat matches the frequency of the human body in a state of healing. By simply laying a feline on an injured part of the body, one can reduce pain and inflammation as well as hasten recovery time from injuries and wounds.

Cats also respond well to various herbs; particularly catnip, lavender and jasmine which can reduce stress and anxiety among felines during times of distress. So, have plenty of herbs available for your feline friends. Lastly, cats are natural empaths and have a tendency of internalizing and responding with haste to a situation inclusive of duress and stress and can be used for early warning detection.

3. BIRDS:

Falcons and other birds of prey can be used to hunt and retrieve small game animals when edible resources become scarce. They can also be trained to attack an enemy, on command, when necessary.

Carrier pigeons and other select birds can bring stealthy messages from one location to the next when conventional communication is shut down.

4. HORSES:

Equines of almost any kind can accompany someone on perimeter patrol as well as trail riding when property is in need of inspection or reconnaissance duty.

A horse definitely comes in handy when in need of transporting an injured person to safety and even assist with a swift, mounted archery or firearm attack when defending property becomes necessary.

While having pets do offer challenges and responsibilities, the benefits vastly outweigh any drawbacks and over time, your most devoted friends will prove themselves invaluable to any  prepping and survivalist household.
